A Bold Review of Pro-Life Policies Challenges Political Complacency

Every Christian Voter Has a Line They Cannot Cross

Every Christian should be anti-abortion.

There is no excuse for supporting a candidate who is not committed to ending it.

Not reducing it. Not managing it. Ending it.

This is the standard that must shape Christian political engagement—and it is the standard by which every party and candidate must be judged.

A Necessary Comparison

With that in mind, my task ahead is clear: compare the anti-abortion policies of the minor parties now asking for our votes.

This is not optional. It is essential.

Over the coming days, those policies must be examined carefully—party by party—because the goal is not vague alignment, but cultural and political reformation.

The search is simple in principle: find candidates committed to ending abortion.

And the most likely place to find them is within parties that claim the same objective.

The Problem with Party Labels

But party labels are not enough.

Take Pauline Hanson and One Nation. The leader supports first-trimester abortion. Yet within the party are candidates worth supporting—those committed to defending life at every stage, in every circumstance.

This creates a tension.

You cannot judge every candidate solely by the party leader.

But you also cannot ignore party policy—it remains the most efficient starting point in a field of hundreds.

The conclusion is unavoidable:
Look first to parties that oppose abortion—but do not stop there.

Philosophy vs Policy

A deeper issue emerges when examining party platforms.

Some parties claim a strong pro-life philosophy.

But their policies tell a different story.

Consider Family First. Their stated philosophy is clearly anti-abortion. Yet their policy approach reads as a plan to live with abortion—to reduce it, manage it, soften it.

That may be a step.

But it is not the destination.

And for Christian voters, it is not enough.

The Danger of “Incrementalism as an End”

Incremental change has a place.

But it must never become the goal.

There is no acceptable level of legalised injustice. No tolerable degree of dehumanisation.

No one argues for “manageable slavery.”

The objective is abolition.

The same standard must apply here.

Anything less is not prudence—it is compromise.

If you are serious about loving your neighbour and seeking first the Kingdom of God, do not miss the next Church And State conference near you.

Moving the Overton Window

Minor parties exist to shift the conversation.

If the goal were merely “realistic” policy, the logical place would be the major parties.

But that is not why these movements exist.

They exist to drag the Overton Window—to redefine what is politically possible.

Towards what?

Towards equal protection under law for every human being, in every circumstance, from fertilisation to natural death.

Anything less falls short of that objective.

A Moral and Legal Clash

At present, the law permits what reality denies.

Preborn children are human beings.

The law often treats them as if they are not.

That contradiction cannot stand.

When the law dehumanises, it is wrong.

When it permits injustice, it must be changed.

The task is not to adapt morality to law—but to bring law into alignment with Truth.

The Scale of the Issue

This is not abstract.

Tens of thousands of Australian lives are lost each year under a system that is legal, funded, and normalised.

That reality demands more than cautious policy adjustments.

It demands moral clarity.

A Call to Political Leadership

Every party faces the same challenge:

Lead.

Do not settle for what is considered reasonable.

Do not aim for what is politically comfortable.

Do not compromise for the sake of optics.

Be as bold as the issue demands.

Because this is not about managing a problem.

It is about ending it.

What Comes Next

This is just the introduction.

Each party, each policy must be examined in detail.

Because informed voters are effective voters.

And if the stakes are this high, ignorance is not neutral—it is costly.

Too good not to SHARE!
