Andrew Gray sits down with Dave Pellowe to answer the question, “How to Save Australia?” He’s a deep thinker and an experienced leader whose answers to big questions are easy to appreciate for both clarity and conviction. He’s also the host of “The Man Show w/ Andrew Gray”, proudly syndicated on CAS News.
Australia is in trouble. Not just economically or politically, but spiritually and culturally. We’ve lost our backbone, our identity, and our sense of purpose. The latest episode of The Church and State Show dives headlong into the question that should be on every thinking Australian’s mind: How do we save this nation?
Dave Pellowe, founder of Church and State, sets the stage with a sobering truth: righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people. Our country is drowning in paganism, post-Christianity, and pre-Christian ignorance. Yet, there is hope—if Christians stop leaning on shovels and start digging. Prayer is essential, but it’s not a substitute for action. Like the Good Samaritan, we’re called to invest time, effort, and resources to love our neighbour and influence the public square.
Enter Andrew Gray—former pastor, entrepreneur, and host of The Man Show. Andrew doesn’t mince words. His first point? Leadership is broken. Australia faces a chronic void of genuine leadership. Politicians feather their nests while the nation burns. Visionary leadership—rooted in conviction and focused on solving real problems—is almost extinct. And without leaders who care about people and principles, we’re adrift.
But Andrew doesn’t stop at diagnosis; he prescribes a cure. Churches must rediscover their prophetic voice. Not to become the government, but to be its conscience. Silence is abdication. Avoidance has created a vacuum now filled by extreme ideologies. Pastors need courage to speak truth—even when it attracts criticism. Fear of backlash has paralysed too many leaders, especially in big-city churches. COVID exposed this fragility, as some leaders gushed over politicians for “permission” to worship. That’s not leadership; that’s capitulation.
Andrew’s second strategy is practical: fill the political parties. Democracy doesn’t happen on election day; it happens in party branches. If Christians vacate these spaces, darkness reigns. Imagine hundreds of believers joining every branch, shaping policy, and discipling future leaders. It’s not about creating a theocracy—it’s about ensuring righteousness has a seat at the table.
From there, Andrew tackles the trust recession. Integrity is shattered, and intent is absent. Australians don’t trust leaders, institutions, or big business. Rebuilding trust starts with small acts of compassion—like scrapping hospital parking fees for grieving families. Then comes the family crisis. The family court system, Andrew argues, is “ripping us to shreds,” weaponising children against fathers and accelerating breakdown. If we don’t fix this, we’re cooked.
Identity is next. Australia doesn’t know who she is anymore. We’ve traded Paul Hogan’s cheeky grin and Steve Irwin’s larrikin spirit for a confused mess of flags and ideologies. Unity under shared values—faith, family, freedom—is non-negotiable. Finally, prosperity. Despite being resource-rich, we’re running last on every metric. Energy prices, groceries, transport—all skyrocketing while we chase utopian fantasies like net zero. We need leaders committed to making Australians prosperous again.
Andrew closes with a passionate appeal for men. Masculinity isn’t toxic; it’s magnificent when rightly expressed. His channel, The Man Show, champions men as protectors, providers, and leaders. Without strong men, no policy will save Australia. Six to eight men take their lives daily—often because they’ve lost hope. Andrew’s mission is to restore that hope and call men to hold the line.
This episode is a wake-up call. If you care about Australia’s future, watch the full conversation with Andrew Gray and Dave Pellowe. Share it. Discuss it. And most importantly—act. Join a party. Speak up. Engage the debate. The battle for our nation won’t be won by silence.
