Perth
Get ready for the Western Australia elections in March (and possibly sooner Federal elections) with the second Church And State Perth conference!
Join us for Church And State Perth: an encouraging and eye-opening day of Biblical teaching and analysis on the issues concerning Christians in coming state and federal elections.
What does God say about the relationship between Christians & politics, and how can we as believers can practically be salt which flavours & light which shines in the public square?
“So give your servant a discerning mind so he can make judicial decisions for your people and distinguish right from wrong. Otherwise no one is able to make judicial decisions for this great nation of yours.”
Democracy means “rule of the people”. Like Solomon’s prayer above from 1 Kings 3:9, we should ask God to help us understand right from wrong and make political decisions for our great nation.
So what authority or wisdom does the Bible offer about how we should live and His will for the important public issues our communities are facing?
A popular success, and it’s on again in early August 2024 with strictly limited seats!
Church And State is encouraging Christians in every electorate to faithfully steward political freedom as Jesus would in our place – without blind loyalty to any politician or party.
Motivated by a sincere love for our 26 million neighbours (Australia) and God’s concern for justice in the land, this ministry is encouraging Christians to use God’s Word to guide their votes & political engagement, instead of the TV, internet or partisan agendas.

Saturday (9:30am-5pm)
Church And State Perth conference
- Dave Pellowe – The Gospel, the Culture and Politics
There is a common confusion in the world and too many Christians about how the Gospel – the Good News – relates to and interacts with politics. Far from necessarily separate, Scripture clearly shows the societal decay and eventual destruction when people reject Christianity. - Maryka Groenewald – Building a Just Society on Biblical Foundations
The relevance of a Biblical foundation to a free and just society has been mocked and ignored – to Australia’s great detriment! The Bible is transformative – along with its teachings on hope, Truth and life. It is time once again to weigh all the differences between life and death, and choose life. - Dr Sherry Sufi – Australia On Trial: Accusations and Defence
Australia’s critics have long argued we’re a racist country built on stolen land that doesn’t have a way of life. All we’ve done in response is to dismiss them as ‘wokesters’ and ‘snowflakes’ instead of rebutting their arguments. That’s the gap my new book has helped to fill. - Peter Abetz – The Real W.A. Election Issues
Politicians and parties will often campaign on issues that are either favoured by the media or carefully chosen to avoid upsetting very vocal minority groups. If motivated by loving our neighbour, what issues should Christian voters consider the most important to Western Australia?
Catered Fellowship Lunch (11:30am to 12:45pm)
- Hon Nick Goiran MLC – Responding to WA’s Darkest Laws
Dark laws are made whenever fundamental principles are ignored. In today’s challenging times, the question for responsible citizens is: how can we best respond? - Rev Dr Campbell Markham – The Tide Is Turning But Are You Ready?
The Twenty-First Century attack upon Christian faith and values in the West has left entire generations starved of meaning and purpose. The young are starting to cry out; a surprising resurgence of interest in Christianity has begun. Do we have the courage and conviction to lead these lost generations to Jesus Christ in His Word? - Ps Jordan Thyer – Why Fathers Are Indispensable
Fathers (and father figures) play a unique role in the lives of children, their families, and society at large. But sadly many fathers don’t appreciate just how much they matter and how much their kids yearn for their time, attention, and affection. What happens to children without good father figures? And what happens to societies where men neglect being meaningfully involved in their children’s lives and prioritising them above work, career or hobbies? Join us in thinking through the valuable and essential roles fathers can play in serving their families, churches, and communities by showing up and putting the wellbeing of others before themselves. - Michelle Pearse – We absolutely have to turn this around
It’s a big shock to see how far our nation has progressed on the Left agenda; how aggressive the push has become. We have to just work together to get this done from the grassroots right up into us working directly into Parliament.
Catered Fellowship Afternoon Tea (2:45pm to 3:30pm)
- Dr Augusto Zimmermann – Constituting a Christian Commonwealth
What inspired and motivated our founding fathers? What did they believe? What were they trying to achieve for this nation’s future? What considerations were being debated and discussed in the Constitutional Conventions prior to the federation of the Commonwealth of Australia in the late 1800s? - Panel / Questions and Answers
Details of the program and topics may vary without notice due to unforeseen circumstances.
