UK doctor blows the whistle on gender treatment for children
The following summary of the video above is by CAS News.
In an era where “trust the experts” has become a mantra, what happens when the experts themselves are silenced, intimidated, or punished for doing their jobs? In this episode, PJ sits down with Dr Julie Maxwell — a paediatrician with 25 years’ experience — whose journey from mainstream medicine into Christian advocacy exposes one of the most confronting medical and moral scandals of our time: the ideological capture of paediatrics and the systemic failure to protect vulnerable children.
Dr Maxwell spent decades working in community paediatrics, caring for children with autism, ADHD, language disorders, trauma backgrounds, and those navigating the chaos of family breakdown. Long before gender ideology entered the picture, she was already seeing the same pattern repeated over and over again — children manifesting distress that was deeply connected to fractured families, absent fathers, instability, and a culture that had stopped teaching the value of marriage altogether.
That was the first alarm bell.
The second came when Dr Maxwell became involved with LoveWise, a Christian charity founded by paediatricians to equip parents and churches to teach children about puberty, relationships, marriage, and sexuality — biologically accurate, biblically faithful, and grounded in the belief that God’s design is good. But as she continued this work, something darker emerged.
The rise of gender ideology changed everything.
What Dr Maxwell witnessed was not careful medicine, but a radical departure from every safeguard paediatrics is meant to uphold. Children presenting with anxiety, depression, autism, trauma, or neurodivergence would suddenly find all other concerns sidelined the moment gender dysphoria was mentioned. Clinical curiosity stopped. Exploration ceased. The rule became simple: affirm, don’t ask questions.
At the Tavistock Gender Identity Clinic in the UK — now shut down following scandal, lawsuits, and the damning Cass Review — Dr Maxwell saw a conveyor belt model of care that would have been unthinkable in any other medical context. Instead of addressing underlying mental health issues, family dynamics, or social influences, children were fast-tracked toward social transition, puberty blockers, and eventually cross-sex hormones — all without robust evidence, long-term safety data, or meaningful oversight.
Even worse, clinicians knew. Many genuinely believed they were referring children for counselling, not medicalisation. When Dr Maxwell presented the actual treatment pathways to her colleagues, the reaction was horror.
Yet fear kept most silent.
Doctors were intimidated by colleagues, threatened with complaints, and terrified of being labelled “transphobic” — a label that could end careers. Meetings would shut down the moment diversity officers entered the room. Sound clinical judgement was replaced by ideological compliance.
Perhaps most disturbing is the suicide myth — the claim that failure to affirm a child’s self-diagnosed gender identity will lead to death. Dr Maxwell explains this is simply false. The Cass Review found no evidence that puberty blockers or social transition improve mental health outcomes. There is no evidence that children with gender dysphoria have higher suicide rates than other distressed children. In adults, emerging data suggests suicidality may increase after transition.
Children, however, are being coached online to say the “right things” to access treatment, emotionally blackmailing parents who are told they must choose between a “living daughter or a dead son”.
It is medical malpractice dressed up as compassion.
And yet, there is hope.
Dr Maxwell is clear: children experiencing genuine distress deserve care — real care. Listening, patience, therapy, family support, grounding in biological reality, time offline, and parents who don’t panic but also don’t surrender truth. Historically, the vast majority of children with gender dysphoria resolved naturally when allowed to progress through puberty.
Let children be children. Protect them. Stop sexualising them. Stop experimenting on them.
This is not a fringe issue. It is a civilisational one.
👉 I strongly encourage you to watch the entire episode. Dr Julie Maxwell’s testimony is calm, measured, and devastating — and it may be one of the most important conversations you hear this year.
