This week on THE OTHER SIDE… (Ep 432 w/c Fri 31 October 2025)

Inflation concerns mean mortgage rates are unlikely to drop soon, while political and cultural battles intensify over diversity training, puberty blockers, and union affiliations. The Coalition’s shift left has fueled One Nation’s rise, as workers flock to alternative unions and debates on education and free speech dominate headlines.

This week on The Other Side, Damian Coorey and his guests pull no punches on the issues that matter most: inflation, woke madness, and the slow-motion implosion of the Liberal and National parties.

Let’s start with the economy. If you were hoping for interest rate relief, forget it. The latest inflation figures are a shocker: 3.2% annual rise, well above the Reserve Bank’s 2–3% target. Electricity prices alone have surged an eye-watering 24% over the past year. Net zero, we were told, would save the planet. Instead, it’s making Australians poorer and our economy weaker. Jim Chalmers insists inflation reduction is his “top priority”, but Canberra’s addiction to big spending says otherwise. Welfare handouts, renewable subsidies, bloated bureaucracies – all of it fuels fake demand and keeps inflation stubbornly high. Until fiscal discipline returns, mortgage holders can kiss rate cuts goodbye.

Across the Pacific, Donald Trump and Xi Jinping met for the first time since 2019. The headlines? A truce in the trade war and promises to curb fentanyl exports. Tariffs will ease slightly, but don’t expect miracles on Ukraine or Taiwan. The world’s two biggest economies remain locked in a tense embrace – and Australia, as always, sits in the middle.

Back home, Victoria has gone full woke with race-based triage at St Vincent’s Hospital. Indigenous patients now get automatic priority in emergency departments. Let’s be clear: triage should be based on clinical need, not skin colour. This isn’t “closing the gap”; it’s institutionalised racism. Premier Jacinta Allan backs it, of course. Cultural safety? Spare us. Equality means equal treatment – not apartheid dressed up as compassion.

If you are serious about loving your neighbour and seeking first the Kingdom of God, do not miss the next Church And State conference near you.

Meanwhile, Queensland is inching toward sanity on gender ideology. After revelations that a state-run clinic treated nearly 40 children without parental consent, Health Minister Tim Nicholls reinstated a ban on puberty blockers for minors. Good move – but why the hesitation on defining “woman”? The LNP’s new definition, “adult female human being”, is a start, yet leaders still squib the hard questions. Former Premier Campbell Newman and Teachers’ Union reformer Ed Schuller agree: conservatives need conviction. Stop pandering to inner-city elites and start standing for truth. Kids deserve protection from radical gender theory, not chemical experiments.

Speaking of unions, the rise of “Red Unions” – politically neutral alternatives for teachers and nurses – is shaking up the old Labor-aligned monopoly. Workers want representation without funding woke campaigns. Competitive unionism could be a game-changer, but only if governments scrap archaic laws that protect the incumbents.

Education? It’s a mess. Queensland’s exam bungle – teaching Augustus Caesar, then testing Julius Caesar – is symptomatic of a bloated, centralised system obsessed with ideology over outcomes. More money isn’t the answer; accountability is. Parents need power, schools need autonomy, and teachers need training that prioritises excellence over activism.

The takeaway? Australia is at a crossroads. Inflation is biting, cultural Marxism is creeping, and our so-called conservative parties are paralysed by fear of the ABC. Voters are craving leaders with backbone – not poll-driven appeasers. As Newman bluntly puts it, “They’re on the road to hell.”
